Habit Tracker
Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise. – Alma 37:6
My Process
To become the best football player and person I can be, I should be doing the things listed in my habit tracker consistently, with small exceptions for rest and recovery days. The focus is on being consistent and loving the process, not day to day results. Some days will be good and some days will suck, but the process shouldn’t change.
Field Work: I should work on my skills and technique very often. This can be practicing with the team, going through footwork or reads out on the field, or some sort of drill to make me a better football player.
Mobility/Recovery: As a defensive end I need to be able to bend. I should go through my mobility and stretching routine every day. This helps with flexibility and also recovery and injury prevention. I also need to fix things that hurt or are holding me back as quickly as possible.
Speed/Strength Work: I should go as hard as possible during the team workouts, while also coordinating extra work with Doc Mayne and the strength staff to get faster and stronger as my body allows.
Film: I should watch practices, opponent film, previous game film, review the playbook, and learn general football knowledge every day.
Daily Devotional: I should spend at least 20 minutes with God each day. Prayer, hymns, scriptures, writing, general conference talks, and other spiritually uplifting activity.
Temple Attendance: I should attend the temple weekly. I should go to the temple with a purpose and a prayer in my heart each time.
“My dear brothers and sisters, here is my promise. Nothing will help you more to hold fast to the iron rod than worshipping in the temple as regularly as your circumstances permit. Nothing will protect you more as you encounter the world’s mists of darkness. Nothing will bolster your testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Atonement or help you understand God’s magnificent plan more. Nothing will soothe your spirit more during times of pain. Nothing will open the heavens more. Nothing!” – President Russell M. Nelson
